The BC Agriculture Council et al joined together to facilitate a speaking tour by Dr. David Biesenthal from Walkerton, Ontario. Dr. Biesenthal is the beef cattle producer who was at the center of the Walkerton tainted water issue.
The speaking tour is mainly directed at farmers and ranchers across the province although agriculture professionals (BCIA) and MAL staff are invited to attend.
As many of you are aware, the BC Agriculture Council, along with its government partners - (BCMAL, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada) is delivering and Environmental Farm Plan Program in BC. It was the fact that Dr. Biesenthal had a deemed appropriate and fully implemented Ontario Environmental Farm Plan that saved him from significant legal and financial burden.
