Production Protocol Enhancement Plan for BC Pork (July 2009)

Production Protocol Enhancement Plan for BC Pork

BC Pork is seeking to improve the production standards of all hogs produced in BC in the areas of animal nutrition, animal health, food safety, biosecurity, environmental impact, and animal welfare. The purpose of this initiative is to establish and position ‘BC Branded Pork’ products as providing superior value to consumers.

There will be 3 protocol certification Levels with each successive Level building on the prior level. Registered Producers are eligible to receive payments from the fund upon receiving independent certification that all criteria in a Level have been achieved. Payments will be based on the verified shipments in the previous 6 month period from the time application is made to the Commission after certification is achieved. The program commences on July 1 2009.
